Peripheral T-cell lymphomas: an historical perspective.
نویسنده
چکیده
Peripheral T-cell lymphomas (PTCL) remain largely unexplored due to disease rarity and biological heterogeneity as well as relatively recent recognition in modern classification systems. Before 1970, classifications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL) were based on morphology. The discovery of distinct T-, Band natural killer (NK)–cell lineages led to two immunologically based classification systems proposed in 1974: the European Kiel and the North American Lukes-Collins. In 1982, the Working Formulation (WF), based on clinical and morphologic criteria, was developed in the United States. The updated Kiel classification separated Band Tcell lymphomas but still failed to address some disease types.

Immunophenotyping of Nodal Peripheral T-cell Lymphomas and its Association with Epstein-Barr Virus
Background: Immunophenotyping in the rare group of nodal Peripheral T-cell Lymphomas (PTCL) exposes interesting features such as T-cell marker downregulation and paradoxically, the presence of reactive, clustered large-sized CD20 positive B-cells (B-cell proliferation). Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) has been suggested as a putative etiology in pathogenesis of B-cell lymphoma. We aimed to review the ...
متن کاملCD30-positive peripheral T-cell lymphomas share molecular and phenotypic features.
Peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified is a heterogeneous group of aggressive neoplasms with indistinct borders. By gene expression profiling we previously reported unsupervised clusters of peripheral T-cell lymphomas, not otherwise specified correlating with CD30 expression. In this work we extended the analysis of peripheral T-cell lymphoma molecular profiles to prototypical CD30...
متن کاملLarge B-cell lymphoma in a dog: A cyto-histopathological evaluation and Immunophenotyping according to WHO classification for canine lymphomas
In the present study, we described cyto-histopathological features and immunophenotyping of the large B-cell lymphoma in an 8-year-old mixed breed dog with applying the World Health Organization (WHO) system of classification of canine lymphomas. In fine-needle aspiration (FNA), lymph nodes were involved by neoplastic cells of intermediate to large size with deep blue cytoplasm; consist of cent...
متن کاملPeripheral T-cell lymphomas: diagnosis and treatment options. Proceedings from a live roundtable, August 17, 2011, Kauai, Hawaii.
Peripheral T-cell lymphomas are a collection of rare diseases, most of which have a poor prognosis. The basic categories include precursor lymphoid neoplasms (eg, lymphoblastic lymphoma); mature natural killer/T-cell neoplasms and extranodal lymphomas, including enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma; hepatosplenic T-cell lymphoma; and subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma. The most co...
متن کاملHistopathology and immunohistochemistry of peripheral T cell lymphomas: a proposal for their classification.
Based on the results of histological and immunohistochemical observations of a large number of peripheral T cell lymphomas from China, England, Germany and Japan, histological and cytological morphology were correlated with immunophenotype, aetiological association with HTLV-1, and clinical behaviour to produce a working classification of the T cell lymphomas. This classification, based mainly ...
